Member Karen McNerney’s Garden
Karen & Mike McNerney's garden started in the summer of 2017 and has been a work in progress ever since. While some of the trees and flowers were there when they moved in, Karen and Michael received many plants, trees and cuttings from Garden Club members. Michael always says he has a vision; Karen, not so much. She just plants everywhere. As a result, each year they’ve added more until they have plenty of fruit trees, berry bushes, raised vegetables gardens, and greenhouse in back along with tons of bee-loving flowers and stone walls around the berms in front. In honor of Karen’s love of the Southwest, she has designated a small area close to the house as the “Southwest Cactus Garden" that has a metal cactus, southwest garden art, and of course yucca and agave. She tries to keep the cactus alive during the winter with some limited success. Karen enjoys making garden art and collecting it for my own yard - so there is plenty filling an empty space. After 6 summers, their yard (with the help of SnapShot) is mostly on a maintenance schedule (yeah). Michael decided on a whim to have bees and the next big goal is to get them to survive a Pacific NW winter.
