Club Meetings & Activities

All Sequim Prairie Garden Club (SPGC) meetings are held in the Pioneer Memorial Park Clubhouse at 387 East Washington Street in Sequim. The schedules for General Membership Meetings, Board Meetings and other related events are listed below. General Membership meetings are held on the first Monday of the month or the following Monday if the first Monday falls on/near a holiday. Social time is 10:00 – 10:30 am, Educational Presentations are from 10:30 – 11:30 am. Business meetings are held four times/year (September, January, March & May). Lunch is provided by the Meeting Hosts and starts at 11:45 am. See the Yearbook for the Meeting Host Schedule and their complete responsibilities.

Gardening in the Park

Taking care of Pioneer Memorial Park is the primary responsibility of SPGC. Gardening in the Park with Club Members is held every Thursday. The Park Co-Directors are always present starting at 9:30 am to offer guidance, direction and education. Come and join the fun.

Speaker: Carol Weiler



Carole has been in the business of book binding for most of her adult life. Now that she is retired, she’s ready to share her expertise with us. Finally…something to do with all those pressed flowers! Supplies will be available for purchase after the talk.

October 6, 2025

10:30 am – Program: Light Pollution and Birds
Speaker: Bobby Daniels



Bobby is a longtime member of the Port Angeles Garden Club. She is very concerned about how light pollution can affect the lives of our local wildlife. She will be sharing ways that light pollution can be minimized in our own backyards to aid the birds and other sensitive wild creatures that surround us.

November 3, 2025
10:00 am – Coffee
10:30 am – Program: Keep Your Tools Sharp
Speaker: Dennis Wistendorf



Dennis, from Razors Edge, is an expert at keeping all manner of tools sharp and ready to use. He will be giving us pointers on how to take care of all our tools, from scissors to garden shovels.
11:45 am – Lunch followed by garden discussion and demonstrations

December 1, 2025
SPGC Holiday Potluck & Party
10:00 am – Garden Club Gift Exchange



Bring a wrapped present for the gift exchange ($15 - $20 suggested)
11:30 am – Potluck
Sliced ham will be provided by the Club.
Members bring salads, side dishes or desserts.
Remember to bring new, unwrapped toys or children’s clothing for the Sequim Community Aid annual drive.

January 5, 2026

Speaker: Renne Brock-Whitman



Renne is a well-known local artist and teacher with experience in a variety of mediums. She will be talking to us about how flowers have always been an inspiration for artists.

English Gardens: Speaker: BJ Patton



BJ is a beloved member of our own Club with a delightful sense of humor. People loved her presentation on English gardens so much that they asked to hear it again. English gardens, with their gorgeous colors and lush landscapes (not to mention the follies) are beloved the world over.

March 2, 2026

10:30 am – Program: Landscape Design
Speaker: Matt Ward

Matt, owner of ONA Landscaping, creates integrated garden designs for individual customers. He will be giving us ideas that we can integrate into our own gardens to make them stand out in both design and beauty.

April 6, 2026

10:30 am – Program: Bees and Honey
Speaker: Meg Depew



Meg owns and operates the Sequim Bee Farm. They make fabulous honey with different flavors depending on the flowers involved. Meg will explain to us some of the processes of bee-keeping and honey-making.

May 4, 2026

10:30 am – Program: Archeology of Sequim Prairie
Speaker: Mike Doherty



Mike is a Director at the North Olympic History Center and will talk to us about the unique archeology of the Sequim Prairie. Since 1948, The North Olympic History Center, (formerly the Clallam County Historical Society) has been dedicated to keeping the history of the North Olympic Peninsula alive.
11:45 am – Lunch & Business Meeting (Election of Officers)

June 2, 2026
10:00 am – Coffee
10:30 am – Installation of New Officers
11:00 am – Luncheon
Today we all get together for a wonderful lunch and thank our new officers for stepping up and infusing Sequim Prairie Garden Club with their new ideas and talents.


There is no SPGC member meeting in July.
