We had a delightful visit to Will Johnson’s home and garden named “Seven Acres of Heaven”. He patiently answered all our
questions while walking us through his property. We found a ‘morel mushroom’ on the walk and Will was more than
thrilled! Will is a trillium connoisseur. The following is Will’s description of his home and garden:
The garden was previously known as “Funston Gardens” and was developed in 1995 by the previous owners Gary &
Trenia Funston. It is currently named “Seven Acres Of Heaven” and is a private residence with two homes,
several outbuildings and a 3-site HipCamp campground on 6.8 (flat-ish) acres.
About half the garden is covered with trees: hemlock, fir, cedar, alder, maple, madrona, etc. About half
has been developed and landscaped. Will explains “low expectations please”, as he is not yet retired,
so it is a work in progress.
The garden has over 300 rhododendrons with most 25+ years old. Many are overgrown so members were invited to
“bring their Felcos!”
Their roommate, Pete Stone, has created dozens of delightful “found item art installations“ located throughout
the property.
Attendees included: Ester de Weese, Dianne McIntosh and her husband Dave, Fran Levian, Linzee Langford, BJ Paton
and friend Stella, Marilyn Reinarz, Rick Seanor, Diane Van der Byl and Chris and Jackie Smith.
Chris & Jackie came later and are not included in the photograph.
